unswerving

Strengthclarity

Potentially difficult situations lay ahead of me today, so I create an altar dedicated to unswerving strength and clarity and goodness: my magic shoes that take me anywhere I want or need to go, my Rob Gobsalves painting called Ladies of the Lake, a lemongrass candle sitting upon a pottery piece with spikey edges my husband brought home for me on a father/son trip several years ago, and a desert rose. All sit atop unadorned, uncovered wood. And best of all: this altar wrapped itself around me and carried me through the day and well into the night, safely, smoothly, serenely.

This is an altar I could bow down before. So many things to see and feel in order to touch the sacred.
    Magic shoes? I want some.
Lemon grass candle? I want to smell it.
Desert rose? I want to inhale its beauty.
And the lake? I want to sit there quietly and feel its serenity.

Thank you. They all represented things of strength to me. The shoes are floppy on my feet, I walk right out of them far too often, and yet I can’t get rid of them because they are, indeed, magic shoes. I put those shoes on, and I can go anywhere, do anything, be anybody.

I love this altar (of course–it’s lovely!) but I really love the title, and imagining your day, guided by the certainty of the wisdom of your bones.

I would wager that my bones deserve credit for creating this altar. They knew I needed strength that day, and they knew just how to give me strength.
