Seeping

If I tell you I have a headache,
you’ll badger me to go to the doctor.

If I tell you I’m not interested in anything
and would love to sleep for three days,
you’ll encourage me to go to a therapist.

If I tell you that I’m tired
of saying only nice things,
edifying things,
fresh, perky, upbeat things,
you’ll tell me to go ahead
and write what I will
then
you’ll share your testimony of faith,
and try to save my soul by convincing
me that your god
is The One For Me.

Might I recommend a tasty cup of chamomile tea with some orange blossom honey and a good, long nap? Should you have a headache and an urge to sleep, I say sleep will right your wrongs. Trust me — if I could, I would make certain I got 9 hours every night.

Sometimes there’s just no substitute for sleep.

Julie said this to me in another context: “the women you will
meet want to be called forth, not saved.”

I think that’s what you’re saying here: you want to
    call yourself

forth, whatever that means, at any given moment in
    your “real” and

“online” life.  Yet people want to save you instead.

People want to save you, not hear you,
not bear witness to your headache or lack of interest or fatigue or
un-nice things. If we respond with advice, we can check you
off the to-do list you did not ask to be on.

When we respond to another woman’s pain with a “fix,” are we trying to dodge not only your pain but our own as well?

You make me laugh right out loud . . . always a good balm for any angst.

The photo is gorgeous as are you. All I can do is nod and point to Angela’s comment. Beautifully said, both of you (and Julie too, via Angela).
