soon i will begin to pull together the set 1 stitched renderings.

All4

right now, there are three different sizes. initially, i wanted to be true to the size of the paper and the size of the drawing. now i realize the larger cloths need to be reduced in size else i wind up with a cloth that could swaddle the entire world.

All2

even then, this promises to be a cloth of substantial proportions. i ordered the backing cloth today. i hope i ordered enough.

it’s exciting to think about the cloth in its finished form.

it’s scary thinking about stitching something so large.

it is the size it’s suppose to be…
    Right?
and is big any harder than little?

sugar, this is only about 1/10 of the 167 stitched drawings. i just get anxious because it will be so big and cumbersome. i do better with smaller pieces i can tuck in my pocketbook.

I found your blog via a friend’s Facebook post. Wow, what a cool thing you’re doing. You are hooring Nancy in such a meaningful manner. Will be fun to hear about her reaction when you give it to her. By the way, I’m a quilter–well, not often of late–but I still have a passion for all things textile.

Nice to meet you, Dawn – especially since we’re kindred spirits sharing a passion for all things textile. I don’t know if Nancy will recognize her drawings or understand the concept that she drew and I stitched and it became this cloth. I guess we’ll see. I’m ready to scan set 2 tomorrow.

Hi! Where’s your request for the printed handkerchiefs? I can’t seem to find it!

UNBELIEVABLE – I was just sitting here (my first time online in I don’t know how many days) thinking about YOU. Will try to find that email and resend. Basically, I am collecting colorful vintage ladies handkerchiefs to use in the Set 1 cloth (my stitched version of Nancy’s first set of drawings she did in June 2012) that I’m on the verge of pulling together into one Great Big cloth. All 167 stitched renderings. Joined together into one cloth. It’s gonna’ be a BIG cloth (fiddling with something of this size makes me nervous, and when I get angsty and when my back hurts in anticipation, I think of you and your lacey canopy installation), and even though I have hundreds of ladies hankies, I’m gonna’ need MORE. Thanks so, so, so much for your help. xo
